Mooresville Cross Walk

Date: Friday, March 30, 2018
Time: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Southside Baptist, Central UMC, Fairview UMC

Good Friday is the day Christ was crucified.  It is one of the most sacred days in the Christian calendar.  Jesus carried His own cross down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem from the Praetorium to Calvary where He was crucified.
There are 14 incidents that happen from the time Pilate sentenced Christ to when He actually died. These are called the 14 Stations of the Cross. Many churches all over the world will have a Cross Walk on Good Friday in remembrance of what Christ had to endure.  It's like a walking devotion.
Every church, every person in Mooresville is invited to come walk with us.  Please park your car at Southside Baptist, (Broad St) and we will be shuttled to Central UMC.
The service will start at Central UMC and we will walk to Southside Baptist. Someone will be carrying the cross just as Jesus did. We have buses available for the older adults or for those that cannot walk
From Southside you will drive to Fair View UMC for the last 2 stations and finish with lunch at our new pavilion.  For some Christians Good Friday is a day of strict fasting and abstinence from all meat.  This abstinence is a form of penance in honor of the death of Christ on the cross.  So lunch will be a simple sandwich with chips and a drink.
Needed:      4 volunteers to help carry the cross
Park Avenue will be providing 100 PBJ sandwiches. Volunteers are needed to make the sandwiches along with other churches.
Please see Pastor Vickie for more information, to order a T-Shirt and to sign up to participate in this special day.
